Retroactive Faction Bonus Question
This update granted retroactive faction bonuses to the Kurzick and Luxon titles. When you log in with a new character that character's total bonus is calculated and added to BOTH titles. Unfortunately, when you cash out faction you lose ALL of the opposing faction. So, you will always lose one-half of the bonus faction.
What I want to know is this: Is this intended in this particular case?
If it was an oversight, say so and I won't log in with the other characters. If not, fine, it's bonus faction either way. I just don't want to waste it if at all possible. Is there any official Anet response?
Thanks

Just be glad you realized this before you logged into all of your characters to get the wisdom/ treasure hunter titles updated. You lose lots of faction on both sides that way

It's always been that way from what I can recall. I don't see why it would be any different in "this" case. As far as I am concerned this is free faction so technically it's not a waste.

Yeah I was wondering about it, but I just went ahead and cashed in all faction of one side, losing another. Just a bonus, don't see it as a loss anyway.

I lost 35k kurz faction. I HAD to cash it because for some stupid reason, it wouldnt let me cash my kurz faction. Im guessing because i had more Lux faction than kurz. Idk if THAT was intended or not either, as I dont remember it working like that.

Always been this way, I dont see a problem. Dump faction into one thing and farm/ab/book the rest

Except that if you're working on faction, you don't generally do both Luxon and Kurzick at once, unless you hate yourself.
So before, what most people would do would be to gain their Kurzick faction, turn it in, then gain their Luxon faction (or vice versa, of course). Doing the quests/missions/pvp/whatever for only one side so that you don't actually waste faction for the other side.

Enough of the "it's always been this way."
If I choose to raise my Kurz rank I don't go doing Luxon things, that would be a waste of faction. I'd consider doing Luxon quests/challenges only once I'd cleared my Kurz account.
My opinion is that any sane player would work along the same lines, and I see the fact that I have 'earnt' this extra faction as a welcome bonus but it is a waste.
Short version: ^ What she said.

Look at this way. Anet didn't have to do any of the updates the way they did. The fact that they took this route and we the players have benefited from said faction today should be taken as a godsend. Where was this concern 10 hours/1week/6months/2years ago before we got the faction update? Why rant about it now? It could be alot worse you know.

I'll say what I said in the main thread.
You logged on today and got a ton of faction for free. Don't be mad because you suddenly didn't get twice as much faction when half of it had to be lost.

uhm, when I turned in my kurzick and luxon factions (had 16 characters who have finished factions)...I didnt loose ALL of the other faction....only the same amount from each. so if you had say 9k luxon and 11k kurzick and turned in 9k of the luxon you would still have some kurzick left (or at least I did...I had more luxon faction even though I have been doing kurzick stuff all week)....after my last character turned in all of the kurzick faction I had gotten I STILL had luxon (which I turned in for a skill and some jade)....getting me back to 0 for both.

You people failed to read OPs post like usual.
He's not even complaining he is asking a simple question if this is an over sight or intended so he doesn't log into his other characters before kidding rid of one of the factions.
Don't alway jump to conslusions thinking someone is ranting/complaining about something.
Read ffs and if you don't get it ask.

Hmm. I think I will wait it out, just incase Anet decides to allow us to transfer the faction with no loss.

This is what bugs me. I can't even donate to my guild's (kurzick) own npc because I have more luxon faction from just logging on... The difference is enough to be an annoyance to try gain more kurzick factions to use my own guild hall's npc, who should be siding with members.

It's always been like this, where you lose the other faction because of donating it to one.
I just sucked it up and donated my Kurzick.

I had that problem as well. Thing is I had a higher Kurzick cap then Luxon, so I just logged on with another character which maxed out the Luxon, but moved my Kurzick higher, then cashed that in.
It happened again so I just cashed in some quests I had saved up, and that gave me more again.

Please RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing read the OP people.
We all know you lose faction from the other side whenever you cash in. The problem is that the retroactive function was given on both sides simultaneously, so you're guaranteed to waste part of it. Had we earned it normally, only the masochistic or idiotic would have accrued faction from both sides at the same time.
I honestly don't see what is so amazingly hard to understand here. And again, the OP wants to know if it was intentional, or if there will be a fix, so he/she can avoid logging characters. If it was intentional, no problem.
